TEZPUR, Dec 29 - Former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta today denied the allegation levelled by ULFA (I) chief Paresh Baruah that Mahanta came to power in 1996 with the help of ULFA (I).
The ULFA (I) supremo had recently commented in a television channel over phone that Mahanta came into power for the second time in 1996 with the help of ULFA.
Mahanta while attending a public meeting of the North East Minority Students� Union here today at Napam said that AGP did not form the government taking help from the insurgent group, but at that time many innocent people along with AGP leaders were killed by the ULFA. Mahanta also refuted minister Himanta Biswa Sarma�s allegations against himself.
