By CORRESPONDENT

TURA, Aug 30 - A magisterial probe has been ordered into the electrocution of a 26-year-old man on Wednesday, who was trying to shut down the power connection to his house. The incident occurred last evening at Soragre village, Edenbari on the outskirts of Tura in West Garo Hills district. The inquiry has been ordered by Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh.

The MeECL has been blamed for the electrocution death. The victim, Rikrang B Marak, was electrocuted inside his house allegedly due to a power surge when he tried to turn off the mains switchboard.

Meanwhile, the local residents of Soragre have complained against frequent voltage fluctuation and blamed the MeECL for the phenomenon, alleging that faulty lines are seldom repaired despite complaints.
