HAFLONG, June 17 - Rail communication between Lumding and Badarpur Hills Section of NF Railway is likely to be resumed tomorrow as the track fit certificate has been given for movement of passenger traffic at restricted speed of 15 kmph after completion of restoration work near Bandarkhal.

The track has also been certified fit for traffic between Manu and Ambasa, informed a railway source. Rail communication between LumdingBadarpur was disrupted from June 14 due to heavy landslide at several locations between DaotuhajaPhiding, Jatinga Lampur-Harangajao and BandarkhalDamchera resulting to untold suffering to the people of Dima Hasao and also of entire Barak Valley, besides States like Tripura, Manipur and Mizoram.

Earlier, a special passenger train was running between Lumding and New Haflong and today the special train was allowed to run between LumdingBadarpur after clearing the landslide between Bandarkhal and Damchera. Normal rail communication between Lumding and Badarpur was likely to resume from tomorrow.

Meanwhile, road communication between HaflongLumding was restored, though it was yet to be restored between Haflong and Silchar. The condition of NH- 54 between JatingaHarangajao is in a very bad condition since the NHAI seems to be indifferent for reasons best known to the NHAI.

The people of Dima Hasao have since long been pleading for immediate completion of NH-54, though to no avail, the haggard people alleged.
