Locals concerned over selling of Govt land

By Correspondent

TEZPUR, May 4 - The locals here, particularly the office-bearers of the Gahan Uddyan located on the bank of Marabharali river near Parwa Chariali (Gutlung), have expressed their total dissatisfaction over the illegal selling of Government land near the Uddyan by an unscrupulous land mafia of the area.

Founder-member of Gahan Uddyan committee and a noted social worker of Tezpur town, Aswani Boro alleged that some land mafias, including Samsul Haque, have been selling the Government lands of the Gutlung area to some suspected illegal Bangladeshis using fake stamp papers.

It is to be mentioned here that some influential forces have been active in and around Tezpur to settle some suspected people by grabbing Government lands in nexus with some unscrupulous officials of the circle office of Tezpur over the past few years, posing a serious threat to the very existence of the local people.

Meanwhile, reiterating the problem, Aswani Bora said that a few years ago, this evil force even tried to capture the land of historic Gahan Uddyan which was prevented by the timely initiative taken by socially-aware locals of the area.
