GUWAHATI, April 2 - A memorial lecture in the hallowed memory of Lakshmi Nath Phookan, one of the pioneers of journalism in Assam and the founder Editor of The Assam Tribune, is being jointly organised by the Lakshmi Nath Phookan College and Journalists� Forum, Assam, at Guwahati Press Club on April 4 from 3 pm.
Disclosing this in a joint statement issued to the media, Diwas Phookan, secretary of the managing committee of Lakshmi Nath Phookan College, and Nava Thakuria, secretary of JFA, informed that Pradip Baruah, Editor of popular Assamese fortnightly Prantik, will deliver the memorial lecture on the future of Assamese magazines. Prof Tabu Ram Taid, president of the managing committee of Lakshmi Nath Phookan College, will preside over the function.
