GUWAHATI, April 28 - A life-size bronze statue of the doyen of linguistics Hem Chandra Barua will be unveiled on the Gauhati University campus on May 1, commemorating the death anniversary of Barua.
Two awards � Hem Chandra Barua Bhasha Sahitya Sadhana Award and Hemkoshpran Debananda Barua Samaj Chetana Award � will be presented on the occasion.
The event, organised by Hemkosh Prakashan, is being held in association with the Gauhati University authorities at the Birinchi Kumar Barua auditorium of the varsity from 10.30 am onwards.
The programme will be attended by Dr Chandrasekhara Kambar, president of the Sahitya Akademi.
