SILCHAR, June 3 - Heavy rain since early Saturday morning inundated many areas of Silchar.
Ambikapatty, Shillongpatty, National Highway, Church Road and Central Road were the most affected areas of the city.
People had to wade through the waterlogged roads in almost all areas of the city. Train services between Silchar and Guwahati was partially disrupted due to landslide on the hill section.
On the other hand, residents of Ambikapatty expressed annoyance over the role of the local civic board to keep the drains clean and from getting clogged.
Dipak Roy, a resident of Ambikapatty said, �during yesteryears, Ambikapatty had never seen such heavy waterlogging. But with the drains getting cloged due to dumping of garbage, the problem is becoming serious,� he said.
