GUWAHATI, Dec 16 - The Kamrup Metro District Magistrate has suspended the licence of Crystal Bar located at Zoo Narengi Tiniali here for alleged violation of Excise norms.

Rajib Prakash Barua, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metro, said that the action has been taken following the receipt of reports from the Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) and Superintendent of Excise.

The owner of the bar will be served with a show-cause notice regarding the alleged violations and if the reply is found to be inadequate, the District Magistrate can write to the Excise department for further action.

The bar was in the news after a girl was manhandled by some rowdy youths while coming out of it on Monday evening.

Meanwhile, Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner Dr M Angamuthu has convened a meeting of all owners of bars and restaurants having Excise licences on December 23.

In addition to existing licence conditions, new guidelines for such establishments are likely to be issued during the meeting.
