LIC, Jorhat division posts healthy growth

JORHAT, Sept 2 - The Jorhat division of LICI comprising 10 upper Assam districts, entire Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, in the past financial year (2017-18) was successful in surpassing the target fixed by the company in earning first premium income (FPI).

Addressing a group of reporters at the Jorhat LICI divisional office here yesterday on the occasion of 62nd anniversary of the company�s inception, Senior Divisional Manager NT Bhutia disclosed that the Jorhat division managed to earn Rs 511 crore FPI in 2017-18 fiscal against the target of Rs 460 crore.

Bhutia informed that the division in the case of selling number of policies managed to sell 213,233 policies against the target of 240,000 policies set by the company in the last fiscal year.

The senior divisional manager said that in the current fiscal year (2018-19) so far the division has sold 76,672 policies out of the target of selling 240,000 policies fixed by the company headquarters.

Bhutia said that in case of FPI the division has earned Rs 162.16 crore against the target of Rs 550 crore.

Stating that the LICI was involved in several social welfare activities, the senior official said that presently 119 students under Jorhat division were receiving scholarship of Rs 10,000 each annually.

He said the company had been donating to educational institutes, organisations involved in social welfare activities and institutes providing care to physically-challenged children.
