Lenien bags double crown

GUWAHATI, Dec 20 � City girl Lenien Jamir clinched double crown in the 23rd All Assam Junior Tennis Championship being organised by North East Tennis Foundation at its own courts here.

On the final day of the championship today, in the girls U-14 event she defeated her city mate Janashree Saikia 6-2, 6-3. Again in the U-18 category, Lenien got the better of her same opponent 6-4, 6-3 to complete the double crown.

In the closing function, former State tennis champion Prasanta Das, former NEEPCO director IP Baruah along with donor Manima Baruah distributed the prizes to the winners and the finalist.

The final results: (Boys� U-12) Anurag Buragohain defeated Debango P Hazarika 6-1, 6-0. (Boys� U-14) Debashis Medhi defeated Arith Bhuyan 6-4, 7-6 (3). (Boys� U-18) Manas P Kuli defeated Jugal Baruah 6-4, 6-3. (Gir�s� U-14) Lenien Jamir defeated Janashree Saikia 6-2, 6-3. (Gir�s U-18) Lenien Jamir defeated Janashree Saikia 6-4, 6-3. (Veterans� above 35 years doubles) Kalyan K Das/Rishiraj Das defeated Subhash Kalita/Bulbul Das 6-2, 6-3. (Above 45 years doubles) Nabarun Saikia/Simanta Bhagawati defeated Subhash Kalita/Col.
