GUWAHATI, July 26 - The Assam State Legal Services Authority has formed core groups in the districts under the district legal services authorities, with doctors, lawyers, NGOs to ameliorate the flood situation in the State.
Currently the core group members are helping the flood victims avail rights and entitlements. On the basis of reports from core groups the district legal services authorities are coordinating with different departments of the government to fill up the gaps in relief operations during the floods.
Post flood, the core groups will organise informal legal aid clinics in the affected areas to assist the victims access legal documents which they might have lost in the said disaster. The authorities have also raised funds from among the staff and distributed some essential items including baby food among the flood victims.
