Legal adviser asks CM Jha to surrender

By Correspondent

SHILLONG, June 15 The legal counsel of the elusive Chandra Mohan Jha (CMJ) today advised that Jha should submit himself before the law, so that the law could take its own course on the CMJ University.

Jha is wanted after a non-bailable arrest warrant was issued against him by a local Court here last month in a case related to the CMJ University, named after him. However, Jha has been able to give the investigators the slip and has remained elusive. It is reported that Jha is either in Bihar, his home State, or escaped to Nepal.

CM Jha should submit himself before the law, SP Sharma, Jhas legal advisor said when asked about his legal advice to his client who has been wanted by the law enforcing agencies.

Sharma clarified that he is unaware about Jhas whereabouts and has been acting only as his family counsel for quite sometimes now. He further added that neither he is any way connected with the CMJ University nor under its payroll.

Interestingly, Sharma today addressed the media at the Shillong Press Club with a letter purportedly written by Jha (dated June 15, 2013) addressed to the Meghalaya Education Minister RC Laloo, but was unaware if the Minister has received the letter and felt that the media should be informed about the letters content anyway.

In the letter, Jha put up his defense before the Minister and at the same time accused the Constitutional Head of the State and visitor of the CMJ University, Ranjit Shekhar Mooshahary of holding a personal grudge against the University.

On the other hand, Sharma in a freash salvo said all the controversies surrounding the CMJ University have been created by rival Universities based in Assam.

On the degrees awarded by CMJ University, Sharma gave another insight and said that someone else, not connected with CMJ University, has issued the fake degrees in the name of CMJ University to bring disrepute to the University.

Meanwhile, the Governor apart from recommending to the State Government to dissolve the CMJ University for flouting set norms and tarnishing the image of the State also said that the case must be handed over to the CBI.
