Left parties announce candidates for polls in Dibrugarh dist

DIBRUGARH, March 14 - A joint forum of all the Left parties in the district today announced names of candidates to contest in the forthcoming Assembly polls. The member Left parties that came together include the Communist Party of India (CPI), CPI (M), CPI (ML), Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) and Revolutionary Communist Party of India (RCPI).

The candidates of the Left parties include Hiranya Baruah (115 Moran LAC), Diganta Phukan (116 Dibrugarh), Rajesh Rajput (117 Lahoal), Sunil Tanti (118 Duliajan), Meera Tanti (119 Tingkhong), Suresh Deka (120 Naharkatia) and Debnath Majhi (121 Chabua).

Ratul Gogoi, the chief convener of the forum said that their main agenda is to uproot the corrupt Congress and prevent fascist and communal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from coming to power. �We want to provide an alternative government to the people of Assam,� he said.

Prakash Rajkhowa, State Vice President of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) said that only the Left can bring the �Ache Din� (Good Days) for the people.
