GUWAHATI, March 19 - The National Company Law Tribunal�s Guwahati Bench vide an order passed on January 25 last allowed appointment of an independent Director in M/s Madarkhat Tea Company Private Limited in order to ensure proper functioning of the board of the said tea company and also to safeguard interest of the company.
A case was filed by Shanta Prasad Chakrabarty and others against the tea company for mismanagement of labour dues as well as causing perpetuated oppression to the petitioners.
The allegation against the Board of Directors of the company was that the accounts of the company have not been managed properly and same has caused a financial mess of the company.
The Tribunal after hearing the case and also taking note of the various shortcomings and mismanagements of the Board of Directors of the company, allowed appointment of an independent Director of the company in order to ensure future activities of the board in accordance with law.
