GOSSAIGAON, Dec 27 - A large quantity of sal logs and firewood was seized during sudden raids by forest officials, supported by the Forest Protection Force under Kachugaon forest division in Athiabari forest range on December 25.
In a sudden raid at Gaorai village, the forest party was able to seize considerable quantity of illegal sal logs and firewood. The value of the seized sal logs and firewood is Rs six lakh.
In another operation recently, the DFO, Kachugaon Forest Division with the assistance of forest protection force at Nalbari under Athiabari Range, illegally-stored sal logs of market value Rs two lakh was seized. All the seized logs have been brought to the Division Office, Gossaigaon.
