Lakhs throng Sabha venue

HEMCHANDRA BARUAH KSHETRA (Dergaon), Feb 2 � �Writers are the silent devotees of sabda brahma. They are the sole user of words. Words are the all for a writer.� This was stated by noted writer Yese Dorje Thongsi while inaugurating the programme �Ramdhenu� at the Sayed Abdul Malik stage of the 71st Dergaon session of Asam Sahitya Sabha today.

The programme anchored by Sabi Gogoi where a large numbers of young writers took part, was followed by a popular programme �Akash� which was inaugurated by noted writer Rita Choudhury and conducted by noted poet Mira Thakur.

In the programme, a large number of women writers took part. Rita Choudhury opined that at present the women are in progress and so we are hopeful in the development of the womenfolk. The programme anchored by Dr Pallabi Deka Buzarbaruah and attended by more than one lakh people. In the programme, three books published by the reception committee � Bhumi Akash aru Pohar, Bijnan Bhivab and Duranta Mon Ananta Sishu � along with other 30 books were released today.

In the evening, the Rekibuddin Ahmed, Dr Upen Kakoti and Amar Sarmah memorial cultural nite was held which was inaugurated by Padmashre Jatin Goswami. Earlier, the Sabha flag was hoisted by the president Rang Bong Terang along with 71 others flags.

Tomorrow the cultural procession will be taken out through the main roads of Dergaon town where more than 30,000 people are likely to take part. After that, the first open meeting will be held with Rang Bong Terang in the chair and will be opened by Rattan Sing, writer of international fame. Bangla poet Allok Ranjan Dasgupta will be the chief guest while Marathi poet Satis Kaleskar and Malayalam story writer Paul Zechariah will be the invited guests. In the meeting, Devananda Baruah will be felicitated. In the evening, the Mohan Bhawaria memorial cultural nite will be held.
