NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Oct 4 - The North Lakhimpur unit of All Assam Students� Union submitted a memorandum to the Circle Officer of North Lakhimpur for eviction of encroachers from various public places across the town.
The memorandum was submitted following a sit-in demonstration in front of the North Lakhimpur Circle Office on Friday. The AASU unit demanded eviction of encroachers from public places in Somdiri and Gariyajaan areas of the town and to provide alternative space for street vendors in the memorandum.
The memo also included a demand for eviction of traders from footpaths, repair of dilapidated roads of North Lakhimpur, to issue trade licenses to local persons, to shift parking places near educational institutions and to instal street lights along all the roads of the town before Durga Puja.
