GUWAHATI, Dec 22 � In a crucial I-League encounter Shillong Lajong Football Club will take on Chirag United, Kerala here at the Nehru Stadium on December 29.
Shillong Lajong secretary Larsing Ming Sawyan today addressed the media to elaborate about the match and said as both the teams are in the middle of the table, the result of their ninth match will play a vital role.
In the last match of the I-League here on December 11, Lajong rallied to beat Mumbai FC 2-1. Ming believes that the Nehru Stadium ground will again prove lucky for them and hoped to gain full points out of this match. The Lajong secretary revealed that by middle of January next, the renovation work of Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong is likely to be completed and after that the remaining home matches of his team will be conducted there.
He said that the team will arrive here on December 26 and will have a workout sessions at SAI ground.
The tickets will be issued from December 26. The organisers, Shillong Lajong FC itself, has fixed the rates of the tickets and accordingly the rate of covered gallery, with chair, will be Rs 200. Other rates at different galleries are Rs 80 and Rs 60. This time Ming is expecting a good turnout for the match. He also hopes local football lovers will come to enjoy the match.
Ming said, although they faced a 0-6 defeat against Churchill Brothers at Goa they came out strongly against United FC yesterday and managed to a draw after conceding an early goal. He hoped as in previous occasions his players will be motivated to play in Guwahati and will come out successfully. He also said that it is very tough for any Indian team to play Goan teams at their home ground.
Assam Football Association secretary Ankur Dutta informed that Chirag United will arrive here of December 27. He also mentioned that if the Shillong stadium is not ready in the middle of January then Lajong-East Bengal match will also be hosted here. The match will start at 2.15 pm.
