Kunal Ghosh more a tourist than accused, having good time

By Staff Correspondent

SHILLONG, Feb 10 - Former Trinamool Congress MP and a key accused in the multi-crore rupees Saradha Chit Fund scam, Kunal Ghosh is nonchalant and displaying a tourist-like attitude here, posting pictures and listening to music.

Shillong is cold.playing a very nice song of Hemant Kumar: Duranta ghurnir ei legechhe paak koto rang bodlai rang bodlai (The restless whirlwind has begun and so many colours are changing), he posted this morning holding a cup. Later today he went to a Saraswati puja pandal before entering the CBIs office.

After his arrival here last evening, Ghosh has been constantly posting pictures of Shillong on his Facebook page. In one of his posts, he is seen posing on the tarmac of the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi airport. Guwahati. On Assams soil for first time, Ghosh posted after landing in Guwahati yesterday.

Thereafter, he has posted several pictures of the Shillong-Guwahati road and also of himself posing before road-side shops. Later he paid a visit to Jeet Bhumi, one of the places where Nobel Laureate, Rabindra Nath Tagore stayed during his visit here, and posted a video like a Reporter. I am Kunal. At this moment I am in Shillong.

He also lavished praise on Jeet Bhumi and said the caretaker is a wonderful person and friendly. He further stated that Tagore wrote some of novels staying at Jeet Bhumi like Shesher Kobita and others.

In all these posts and videos it doesnt give the impression that he is being investigated for his involvement in a multi-crore rupee scam. Ghosh seems to be presenting himself more as a tourist enjoying the beauty of the place after visiting it for the first time.

Ghosh was once close to West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee and was the CEO of Channel 10 and Editor of the Bengali dailies Sakalbela and Sangbad Pratidin, all believed to be the TMCs mouthpiece and run by the Saradha Group. He was also the head of the media unit of Saradha and received a pay cheque of Rs 16 lakh per month.

He was subsequently made the Rajya Sabha MP with the TMCs support. However, after the Saradha scam was unearthed, he turned hostile and was the first individual to give statements against TMC leaders including Kolkata police chief, Rajeev Kumar of being complicit in the scam.

The TMC subsequently disowned him and ever since, Ghosh has remained an enigmatic character changing stands and statements.

Ghosh seems to be confident and knows a little more than meets the eye and this is certainly not good news for the TMC, because the former journalist might break a story with his exclusive inputs.
