By Correspondent

IMPHAL, Nov 27 Kuki Movement for Human Rights (KMHR) has urged the United Naga Council (UNC) Manipur to lift its three-month-old economic blockade on the National Highways in Manipur considering the hardships of the common people.

Observing that any demand or stand-off can be settled through peaceful dialogues besides reminding that Kukis and Nagas have been living together as neighours since time immemorial, the Kuki rights body, in a statement recently, expressed hope that this years Christmas festival will be celebrated in harmony.

The UNCs blockade entered 99th day today. On November 22, Sadar Hills District Demand Committee representaives met Union Tribal Affairs Minister Kishore Chandra Deo in New Delhi and apprised him of their demand. The Union Minister reportedly told the delegation that he was aware of the situation and the Sadar Hills matter and assured them to take the matter to the Prime Minister and United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

SHDDC demanded a full- fledged autonomous district before the end of November, according to a memorandum to the Tribal Affairs Minister.
