SHILLONG, July 13 Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi who visited the IIM, Shillong on Friday was greeted with black flags and sloganeering by activists of the Khasi Students Union (KSU).

The KSU activists who had gathered at the main entrance of the IIM, Shillong were protesting against the Assam Governments stand vis--vis the border dispute with Meghalaya.

As soon as the cavalcade of Gogoi neared the main entrance of the IIM, Shillong, slogans like Assam Government down down and Tarun Gogoi go back were raised even as the protestors waved black flags.

Gogoi inaugurated the 50 kw solar power plant which will provide clean energy to the IIM campus situated in the city.

Later, addressing the students of the youngest IIM in the country, Gogoi said that harnessing natural energy would benefit the future generations. We should also conserve ground water and also take up rain water harvesting, the Assam Chief Minister said.

Gogoi also pointed out that the main factor for the insurgency in the region was due to lack of industrial development and employment opportunities.

Armed revolution is not a solution. It can be resolved only through economic development and by providing employment opportunities, Gogoi said.

He also pointed out that the need of the hour was the formulation of policies which can foresee what is going to happen in the future.

What is happening today is not important but we should anticipate what is going to happen 20-30 years from now, Gogoi said.
