IMPHAL, May 16 The Kuki State Demand Committee (KSDC) which had imposed a 72 hour Statewide bandh till 6 pm of May 15 has decided to temporarily suspend its decision to continue with an economic blockade on the two National Highways in Manipur.

The blockade was slated to begin from 6 pm of May 15 till May 19. The decision to temporarily suspend the economic blockade has been taken considering the problems which the public would face if the blockade was enforced, according to KSDC sources.

Meanwhile, protesting the alleged non-distribution of post-matric scholarship of scheduled caste students, representative of Lois and post matric scholarship affected guardian committee have threatened to call a 48 hour bandh on May 24-25.

M Manglem Singh, the secretary of representative of Lois and post matric scholarship affected guardian committee said, the bandh would be launched if the concerned authority does not distribute the post-matric scholarship of scheduled caste students by May 22.

The scholarship funded by Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is distributed annually, he said and alleged that the distribution of the scholarship has been stopped from the year 2010. It is not known whether the fund meant for paying the scholarship of students has been misused by the State Government.
