KSA splits yet again

By CORRESPONDENT

DIPHU, May 30 The Karbi Students Association (KSA), which has three factions, separated into one more faction during the general convention held at Kheroni under Hamren subdivision in West Karbi Anglong.

The Englongpho faction of the KSA split into two and the new one is now led by Rajen Inghi who was elected as president of the splinter group while Budheswar Rongpi was elected as the general secretary.

The new body was elected after an extraordinary general convention of the KSA (Englongpho faction). The newly elected body of 15 executive members took charge of the office and pledged to work for the better future of the students and solve the burning issues of Karbi Anglong.

While explaining the aims of holding the convention, Budheswar Rongpi said that Bidya Sing Teron and Lion Engleng failed to address the burning issues faced by the Karbis and this necessitated the formation of the new faction.

On the other hand, talking to media persons, the newly elected general secretary claimed that the freshly-constituted KSA was not a splinter group but the new committee of the KSA which came into existence in 1957. He said that education and economic development had suffered major setbacks in the society and alleged that Bidya Sing Teron and Lion Engleng did not bother to take up these issues.

Meanwhile, Bidya Sing Teron and Lion Engleng expressed serious concern over the split in the KSA. Both the leaders said Rajen Inghi and Budheswar Rongpi had no legal right to constitute a new committee as they did not raise the matter in the recently concluded general convention.
