By Correspondent

DIPHU, June 19 Following mass appeal of different organisations for peace and tranquillity, militant outfit Karbi Peoples Liberation Tigers (KPLT) today appealed to Rengma Nagas in Karbi Anglong to return to their respective homes. The Rengma Nagas had fled their villages after they were served ultimatum by KPLT recently and took shelter in the churches at Chokihola since the last few days.

While stressing upon the age-old cultural and social relation between the Karbi and Rengma communities, the KPLT also called upon the Rengmas not to fall in prey to instigation of any external forces for settling their own issues. The militant leaders reiterated that most of the Rengmas had willingly cuddled Karbi culture and the other way of life that proves the friendly relationship between the two communities.

Meanwhile, there were no reports of fresh evacuation from the Rengma villages. Karbi Anglong deputy commissioner P Buragohain, who took stock of the situation along with top police officials of the district, said the displaced people will return home from today onwards under police security. Adequate security arrangement has also been made in the trouble areas.
