Kokrajhar, Guwahati make it to semis

GUWAHATI, March 2 � Kokrajhar and Guwahati entered the last-four stage of the Senior Inter District Football Championship for the Khirod Baruah Trophy defeating Silchar and Jorhat respectively.

At the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium here today, Kokrajhar outshot Silchar 4-1 in the tie-breaker while Guwahati thrashed Jorhat 4-0 in two quarterfinal matches.

After playing a goalless draw, Kokrajhar struck through Chakradhar Basumatary, Dharmeswar Daimary, Samson Basumatary and Laba Brahma while for Silchar only Hurailong Rongmei was the successful shooter in the penalty shoot-out. The match was conducted by Hasmat Ali and was assisted by Jadu Gogoi and Dwijendra M Sarma.

In the second match of the day, Nitu Narzary (14 min), Thomson Langthasa (19 min), Dipankar Sarkar (42 min) and Monikanta Brahma (79 min) were the goal getters. Nripen Talukdar conducted the match and he was assisted by Hiren Gogoi and Khargeswar Das.

Today�s match (S/F): Dibrugarh vs Margherita.
