Koch-Rajbongshi bodies agree to unite

By CORRESPONDENT

BONGAIGAON, Sept 21 Akrsus Atul and Biswajit factions as well as btc Koch Rajbanshi Sanmilanis Keshab and Niren factions expressed hope of unification forgetting past feuds and differences in a meeting held on Tuesday at Chilaray Indoor Stadium at Barpara here.

Local mla and the working president of agp Phani Bhusan Chaudhury chaired the meeting. North Abhayapuri mla Bhupen Roy was also present in the meeting to help in this initiative taken by akrsu and btc Koch Rajbanshi Sanmilani (btckrs).

In the meeting in which different Koch Rajbanshi organisations participated it was resolved that within coming November, a new body of akrsu and btckrs will be formed centrally in a conference and the current presidents of both the organisations will not be allowed to contest for the post of president in the newly-formed body.

At present, a 12-member adhoc committee has been formed taking current presidents of akrsu and btckrs as advisers. Akrsu presidents Atul Roy and Biswajit Roy said that as per the expectation of Koch Rajbanshi people, they have decided to work under a single body without division and now onwards the Koch Rajbongshi movement will be stronger compared to the past, said Niren Roy and Keshab Rajbangshi, presidents of btckrs. It may be noted that this unification will certainly impact the politics in Koch Rajbongshi dominated areas, a section of intellectuals opined. Also their next agitation will be vigorous, since they are going to be united, local politicians felt.
