KNP best in India in anti-poaching activities

KOHORA, June 3 � For showing excellent performance with regard to checking of poaching activities in Kaziranga National Park-cum-Kaziranga Tiger Reserve by the frontline forest staff compared to other National Parks and Tiger Reserves in the country, the Government of India has recently awarded it the best prize for effective anti-poaching measures. The award was received by the Director, Sanjib Kumar Bora on behalf of the officers and staff of Kaziranga from the Union Minister for Environment and Forest Jayanti Natrajan, in New Delhi.

Bora disclosed this development while addressing mediapersons during an introductory meet programme at the Convention Center, Kohora.

Bora who joined as the new Director of Kaziranga National Park-cum-Kaziranga Tiger Reserve on March 31 this year informed the media that from now onwards no information with regard to killing or poaching of rhino would be hidden. Every relevant and correct information would be provided to media for smooth reporting, he said after giving a patient hearing to the grievances of the reporters of both the electronic and print media.

The new Director also assured that very soon some awareness programmes would be conducted among the people related to protection of wild animals as and whenever it appears in human habitat especially during flood time.
