KNF-P denies serving quit notice

By Newmai News

IMPHAL, Feb 25 The Kuki National Front-President (KNF-P) has denied serving a quit notice to the Meitei community residing in Sadar Hills district of Manipur, terming it as rumour and propaganda.

No ultimatum to leave their homes and hearths has been issued to the Meitei residents of Saparmaina, Motbung and Kangpokpi of Dardar Hills, said a statement issued by the KNF.

This was an absolute rumour and our Meitei residents of Kangpokpi, Saparmaina and Motbung should remain calm and secure in their own homes, it said.

Speaking to mediapersons at the Ebenezar peace camp in Supermaina of Senapati district, the outfits general secretary Aaron Kipgen appealed to the Meiteis who have left their homes and are taking refuge in the relief camp at Sekmai, to return home without fear. He went on to say that the allegation against the outfit of inciting communal flame is simply a rumour and propaganda meant to malign its image.

KCP-MC has been indulging in kidnapping, threats and demands on the National Highway 39 very frequently now, the KNF-P alleged, hinting that the cause of the present unsavoury development lies in the operational invasion of the KCP-MC into the operational jurisdiction of KNF-P.

Meanwhile, in a joint press meet convened by UCM, AMFIL, UMO, Mapi Council, UPF, AMUCO and Advanced Women Society (AWS) at the Sekmai relief camp, TK Mangan, secretary of UCM, said that Sadar Hills is an area inhabited by different communities and not limited to one community alone. Therefore, one community must refrain from acting against the interests of the peaceful coexistence, and KNF-P should promptly withdraw their quit notice, he said.
