KMSS students wing to be launched today

By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, Aug 20 The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) is holding a two-day convention of students at the Lakhiram Baruah Sadan here from 10 am tomorrow to launch its students wing.

In a statement here, the KMSS said that it has proposed to organise its own students wing to fight the adverse impacts of the post-1991 liberal economy of the country on the education sector like privatization of the education sector, hike in fees etc. It has alleged that none of the existing students bodies has built up resistance against the Governments bids to handover the education sector to the profit-hungry capitalists as a sequel to the liberalisation of the countrys economy.

These students bodies have been pursuing a policy of surrendering to the capitalist and neo-liberalised system. They lack ideological clarity on such issues and some of them have involved themselves in popular issues, it alleged.

The organisation has made an appeal to all the interested students to take part in the proposed students convention.
