GUWAHATI, Feb 25 The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) on Tuesday remembered Pranab Boro, who died in a self-immolation bid in Dispur area of the city on February 24 last year. On the occasion, its Kamrup (Metro) District unit demanded land settlement rights to those indigenous people who have been settling on the citys Government land with effect from June 22, 2011.

In a memorandum to the Chief Minister, the KMSS district unit said that each of these families should be allotted 1.5 katha to 3 katha land. It further demanded a halt to the process of allotting the citys Government, hill, forest and wetland lands to the corporate sector and big builders and cancellation of all allotments already granted to such parties on more than 3 kathas of Government, hill, forest and wetland land.
