KMSS rally at Sadiya

GUWAHATI, Oct 27 � The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) today held a rally in front of the office of the Sub-divisional Officer (SDO) of Sadiya to register its protest against the move to set up the 3,000 MW Dibang and 1,750-MW Lohit Hydroelectric Power Projects in Arunachal Pradesh.

Addressing the rally, KMSS president Raju Bora said that the Lohit Hydroelectric Power Project would eliminate the sacred Parasuram Kunda, which is regarded to be the source of origin of the Deuris. The KMSS would not allow the Dibang Hydroelectric Power Project and the LHEP to come up, he announced. KMSS assistant secretary Bedanta Laskar said that KMSS members would rather embrace martyrdom to resist these projects.
