KMSS moves PM over corruption in Karbi Anglong

By CORRESPONDENT

DIPHU, May 10 The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) has submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister, demanding a CBI and NIA probe against the corruption and social unrest prevailing in the hill district of Karbi Anglong. Raju Bora and Akhil Gogoi, president and general secretary of the KMSS along with other activists, submitted the memorandum today through the Deputy Commissioner, Karbi Anglong, to the Prime Minister.

The memorandum pinpoints crucial factors paralysing a large number of government schemes. While mentioning the massive irregularities in the Soil Conservation Department of Karbi Anglong, the memo alleged that government funds were misused under the guidance of Pradip Dutta, DO and i/c Additional Director, Soil Conservation, Karbi Anglong district. Dutta was arrested recently by the Sonapur police for allegedly carrying Rs 70 lakh in cash from Karbi Anglong to Guwahati.

The memorandum further alleged that bureaucrats have a nexus with the militants of the district. As evidence of this, two top Forest officials of Karbi Anglong BN. Narzary and Ranjan Barua were arrested by Diphu police recently on the charge of paying Rs 35 lakh to the KPLT militants.
