KMSS demands arrest of Akhil attackers

GUWAHATI, July 8 � The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) today held a protest meeting and took out a procession at Garchuk area demanding immediate arrest of all the culprits � said to be low-rung Congress leaders and members � involved in the attack on KMSS general secretary Akhil Gogoi at Dharmapur on July 6.

Hundreds of people gathered to take part in the meeting held around 11 am. This was followed by the protest procession around 3 pm.

The KMSS warned the Government of an intensified protest unless the culprits were arrested at the earliest.

Another protest meet was held at Barbari-Juripar area near VIP Road in the evening.

Meanwhile, the All Assam Lawyers� Association has strongly condemned the attack on Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti leader Akhil Gogoi by miscreants at Dharmapur on July 6.

In a statement, the association said that if the allegation of involvement of Congress members in the assault was true, it was a matter of serious concern.

�We condemn the attack and also demand that the State Government clarify on the alleged involvement of Congress cadres in the incident,� it said in a statement.
