GUWAHATI, June 10 � The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS), in a statement, decried the move of the district administration to conduct an eviction drive at Garchuk area today, and said that it would soon hold a convention of all the people without land patta in Guwahati to find a lasting solution to the problem.
The KMSS said that the presence of its leader Akhil Gogoi at Garchuk had an �inspiring� impact on the local residents who were resisting the eviction drive and ultimately the administration was compelled to give a written assurance to the protesters that eviction would be halted and the entire matter would be settled thorough a meeting with the people.
The KMSS appealed to the public to come out in the open against what it said was an �arbitrary� eviction drive.
