KMSS activists demand Akhil Gogoi�s release

GUWAHATI, March 2 � Protesting against the arrest of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi in Guwahati today, KMSS activists staged agitational programmes across the State.

HAILAKANDI: Eighteen members of the Hailakandi district committee of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) were arrested in Hailakandi district when they blocked the Silchar-Bairabi (Mizoram) inter-State passenger train today at Mahammedpur under Katlicherra circle in protest against the arrest of

Akhil Gogoi.

A police team rushed to the spot immediately and vacated the track and arrested 18 members of KMSS. They have been kept in Lala Police Station. The train was blocked for about three hours. No report of any protested was reported so far from any part of the district regarding the arrest of Akhil Gogoi.

RAHA: Hundreds of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) activists today staged road blockade at NH 37 at Raha in protest against the arrest of its leader Akhil Gogoi in Guwahati.

The KMSS advisor Raju Bora also joined the protestors and demanded unconditional release of its president Akhil Gogoi.

Later, senior police authorities from Nagaon arrived at the spot and cleared the road for traffic.

TINSUKIA: The Tinsukia district committee of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) has resorted to NH-37 blockade at Makum today in protest against the arrest of Akhil Gogoi.

The protesters demanded immediate release of their leader and termed the arrest as conspiracy of the State Government to curb the peaceful agitation for the cause of landless people of Assam. However the blockade was lifted after one hour.

Dergaon: A torch-lit procession was taken out by KMSS activists in Dergaon town this evening, demanding the immediate release of Akhil Gogoi.
