GUWAHATI, Nov 16 - The annual kite festival of Jeevan Initiative has been scheduled from January 1 to 7, 2016.
The festival highlight will be The Brahmaputra Campaign for preservation and potential of the river. The festival, in its 5th edition, will feature Brahmaputra Vandana, where thousands of people will light earthen lamps on the river bank on all the seven evenings.
According to the organizers, this programme will create a sense of respect for the river, thereby motivating people not to treat it like a dirty drain and its bank as a dumping ground.
This time, kite clubs from outside the country are expected to participate in the festival. Inter-club and inter-media house events have been scheduled. The other attractions are cultural performances, exhibition, roundtable discussion, etc.
