Kiran clinches Mr Saraighat title

GUWAHATI, April 30 - Kiran Patil of Indian Railways clinched the Mr Saraighat title in the 27th Mr Saraighat RG Baruah Memorial All India Classic Body building Championship held at the ITA Centre here last evening.

The Indian Body Builders Federation (IBBF) affiliated championship has been recognised by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports where 22 leading bodybuilders of the country took part.

The championship, organised by the Saraighat Gym in association with the Assam Bodybuilding and Fitness Association was formally inaugurated by Sahitya Academi Translation Award winner Bipul Deuri. The souvenir was released by Hemangadeep Das, general manager, DICC Kamrup. A total amount of Rs 5.5 lakh was at stake and the champion walked away with a purse of Rs 1.25 lakh. The second and third position holders received Rs 1 lakh and Rs 80,000 respectively. Cash award and trophies were presented to top 10 position holders.

The championship was conducted by Balbir Singh, chairman judges committee, IBBF. Prizes were distributed by Basanta Das, Bipul Deuri, RP Kanu, Anup Dutta, Bhabajyoti Goswami, Bipul Bharali, Ranjit Das, Tridib Gogoi.

Top 10 position holders: 1st - Kiran Patil (Railways), 2nd - Serbo Singh (Railways), 3rd - Maheswaram (Services), 4th - Lavin K (Railways), 5th - Mahendra Chawan (Maharasthra), 6th - Varun Yumnam (CRPF), 7th - Abhijit Das (Assam), 8th - Vinit Sharma (Punjub), 9th - Dilip Deuri (Assam), 10th - Shyam Choudhury (Railways).
