GUWAHATI, July 3 � Despite efforts initiated by Assam Police and NGOs, Christina Kandula, the Adivasi girl undergoing treatment for multiple injuries in Patna Medical College and Hospital recently, could not be traced.

Student bodies and other tea tribes� associations of the State have also stepped in to find Christina�s parents or relatives. Christina, who was being treated for multiple injuries in Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) and subsequently released, had said that she hails Panbari area of Sonitpur district.

The Assam Tribune had reported about the plight of Christina who was left unattended in the PMCH.

Additional Director General of Assam Police (CID) told this reporter that steps has already been initiated to trace the family of the girl.

Meanwhile, the Bachpan Bachao Andolan and the Society for Socio-Economic Empowerment and Development, NGOs, have come forward to reach out to the family members of the victim.
