SILCHAR, June 18 - Even as the two-year-old Shubhamita alias Trisha Roy Choudhury, daughter of Dr Shubhdeep and Dr Satabhisha RoyChoudhury of Assam University, Silchar, was rescued from the clutches of the kidnappers on June 10, Rambha Bagdi alias Neha, the housemaid at the residence of Dr Shubhadeep, allegedly the prime suspect behind the kidnapping, is yet to be traced.
�My earnest appeal to the officials of district administration, please bring my daughter back home. We are poor and have no money. It has been 13 days. Where is my daughter,� echoed Mangala Bagdi, mother of Neha as she met the Cachar Deputy Commissioner S Viswanathan to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister.
Accompanied by former MLA Rumi Nath, Sanjeev Roy and others, the family members of Neha have alleged that the police department of the district has utterly failed to solve the kidnapping case.
In reply to the mounting appeals to trace Neha at the earliest, Deputy Commissioner said, �Neha is an accused in the kidnapping of Trisha. Police is trying all ends to trace her.�
Meanwhile, Silchar MP Susmita Dev and Congress MLA from Lakhipur Rajdeep Goala have expressed serious disappointment on the role of Cachar police to trace Neha Bagdi even after 13 days. Expressing solidarity to the move driven by common people to intensify the demand to recover Neha, Susmita Dev said that since the incident of kidnapping came to light, the poor Bagdi family has been harassed by police in the investigation. But police has not been able to drive home success since the child was recovered because of consistent efforts from the people using social media.�
Rajdeep Goala also said that Cachar police needs to maintain strict vigil on the instances of violence and unrest including the chaos at Hmarkhawlien, the communal clash in Silchar following an inter-religious marriage etc.
