Kidnapped girl rescued, 2 held

GUWAHATI, Aug 25 - Bharalumukh police last night rescued an eight-year-old girl from Seppa in Arunachal Pradesh who had been missing since May 31, and nabbed her kidnappers.

The minor, a resident of Santipur hillside area under Bharalumukh Police Station, was kidnapped from her locality while she was playing with her friends.

Investigating officer Kangkan Mahanta of Bharalumukh PS, said, �Two miscreants, namely Rafique Ali and Gazi Rahman, had kidnapped the girl and sold her for Rs 50,000 in Arunachal Pradesh to be employed as a domestic help.

Police said Rafique, who is a daily wage labourer by profession, is a neighbour of the abducted girl�s family and had a very good relation with them. He had taken her from Guwahati to Arunachal Pradesh, where Gazi handed her over to a family saying that she was an orphan.

The health condition of the victim is normal and she was reunited with her family today. On the other hand, the two kidnappers, both from Mancachar, have been booked under sections 363 and 372 of IPC, police said.
