GUWAHATI, June 22 � The All Guwahati District Kickboxing Association and Kamrup (R) District Kickboxing Association, under the guidance of Assam Kickboxing Association (AKA) will host the 4th All Assam Inter School Kickboxing Championship at the Sonaram HS School playground here from July 20 to 23.
Informing about the championship, the AKA secretary Biswajit Kakoty revealed that around 600 players from 20 districts will vie for titles in 180 different events during the four-day championship. The competitors, both boys and girls will be in the age group of U-9, U-14, U-17 and U-19 years.
Arjuna Award winning athlete Bhogeswar Baruah was also present in the press conference. Baruah said, as a sports loving person he is offering his co-operation in hosting the meet. He, however, said that the present scenario of the State sports is not favourable. He opined that the State Government has to do more in order to create a perfect atmosphere for developing sports activities.
