Khandu inaugurates Arunachal�s 22nd district

ITANAGAR, Dec 15 - Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated the State�s 22nd district, Kamle, in a function held at Yada ground, Raga, on Friday.

The new district is comprised of three administrative units from eastern part of Lower Subansiri and another three from western part of Upper Subansiri district.

The Bill for the new district creation, �The Arunachal Pradesh (Re-Organisation of Districts) (Amendment) Bill, 2017�, was passed by the State Assembly during in October last.

Headquartered at Raga, Kamle district, spread over an area of 8,500 sq km with a population of 22,256, will have six administrative circles � Raga, Kamporijo, Dollungmukh, Puchi-Geko, Gepen and portion of Daporijo Sadar, according to an official release here.

�It gives me immense pleasure to be part of your inaugural programme of newly born 22nd district of the State. It is not just a moment of pride for the people of Kamle district but for the entire State,� Khandu said while launching the new district in presence of Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju, Deputy Speaker Tumke Bagra and local MLA Tamar Murtem, among others.
