Kaziranga University conducts fifth convocation

GUWAHATI, Jan 15 - The Assam Kaziranga University, conducted its fth annual convocation ceremony today at the University campus in Koraikhowa, Jorhat, a press release stated.

Attended by several notable guests and luminaries, this year�s programme was attended by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal as the chief guest.

Among the other guests were Ashok Mittal, Chancellor, Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar, and MC Mary Kom, six-time World Amateur Boxing Champion, who was also awarded an honorary doctorate from Kaziranga University in 2018. The ceremony was presided over by the Chancellor of Kaziranga University, Dr Murli Dhar Khetan.

Four hundred and five students from across the university were awarded their degrees. The University also conferred honorary doctorate degrees upon two exemplary individuals, noted for tremendous contribution in their respective fields � Padma Shri Jadav Payeng, Assam�s own �Forest Man� and former World and Olympic Champion Padma Bhushan Abhinav Bindra in absentia.

In his welcome address, the Vice-Chancellor Dr PK Mishra highlighted the accomplishments of Kaziranga University in the year gone by. Chief Minister Sonowal in his convocation address focused on the power and ability of the youth, especially in India, home to the largest population of young people in the world, the release added.
