GUWAHATI, Nov 3 - The Guwahati Buddha Vihar Samiti will celebrate the 46th Kathin Chibar Dan Utsav at the Guwahati Buddha Vihar, Bamunimaidam Railway Colony here tomorrow.
The celebration will begin at 5 am with Sutrapat by the Bhikkhu Sangha. At 10.30 am, Buddha Puja will be performed, which will be followed by Pinda Dan to Bhikkhu Sangha at 11.30 am. At 2.30 pm, Dharma Sabha will be held, and Chibar Dan will be performed. At 5 pm, the Buddha Vihar will be illuminated and at 5.30 pm, prizes for the 4th Bilas Barua Memorial Art Competition, 2018 will be distributed, which will be followed by a cultural programme from 6.30 pm.
Kathin Chibar Dan is the most righteous offering made to venerable bhikkhus or monks. It is celebrated after the three months of Varsabrata, which begins on Ashadhi Purnima, the full moon day of July, and concludes on Aashini Purnima, the full moon day of October.
