Kathalguri HSS, DPS emerge champions

DULIAJAN, June 2 - Kathalguri HS School won the mini sub junior title while Delhi Public School (DPS), Duliajan clinched the sub junior crown in the 7th Greater Duliajan Inter School Football Tournament organised by the Duliajan Football Academy.

In the finals played at the Nehru Maidan here today, in the mini sub junior category Kathalguri HS School edged past St Xaviers HS School, Duliajan by the barest of margin while in the sub junior group Delhi Public School, Duliajan defeated Kendriya Vidyalaya, Duliajan by a margin of 2-0 goals.

Bishal Topno, Kathalguri HS School (mini sub junior) and Dev Shankar Dutta, St Xaviers HS School were adjudged best player of the final and the tournament respectively. In the sub junior group Avishek Roy, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Parsuram Thapa, DPS were presented player of the final and tournament respectively.

The tournament was sponsored by the Oil India Limited. Altogether 25 schools from in and around of the oil town took part in the meet.

Pranjit Deka, ED (HR&A) OIL was the chief guest on the occasion while Rajeev Baruah, GM (ER), OIL, Sudipta Chakravarty, GM (PA), Rituparna Sarma, DGM (ER) OIL, Bedanta Borthakur, Deputy Chief Engineer (Logistic) OIL, Upen Bhuyan, sports organiser were the guest of honours.
