GUWAHATI, March 2 � Karimganj posted a 22-run victory against Tezpur in the last super league match of Plate Group Senior Inter District Cricket Tournament for the Nuruddin Trophy at Nehru Stadium here today.
With this victory, Karimganj have collected five points against Tezpur�s nil. However, Karimganj (8 points) failed to qualify for the final as Jorhat (12 points) and Tezpur (9 points) have qualified for the title clash grabbing the top two positions. The final has been slated for March 4 and 5.
After taking a thin six-run first innings lead, Karimganj scored 219 in their second innings and requiring 226 runs for an outright victory, Tezpur fell 22 runs short as they were all out for 203.
Srideb Biswas (73) and Rajib Chakraborty (53) cracked half centuries for Karimganj.
Left armar Vikrant Sehwag spoilt Tezpur�s party with a rich six-wicket haul.
