GUWAHATI, Aug 3 - The All Assam Open Karate Championship was held at Mariani under the auspicious of Shito Ryo Saifakai Karate School, Mariani on July 31.

Prior to that a referees� seminar was organised on July 30 where 62 referees, including 19 senior players took part.

The seminar and the karate championship were held at the Mariani College premises with active support of local MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi, informed Assam Karate-Do Association (AKA) secretary Nilotpal Goswami in a release.

Sudhan Roy of Sonitpur was adjudged best karateka in the senior boys category while Chandrama Boro got the best fighter award in the cadet girls� section. In the junior girls� group Tamanna Subhashini got the best player award and in the sub junior boys� section Hirat Ali of Kamrup (M) was declared as the best player.

Jorhat annexed the best team title while Kamrup (M) became second.

In the closing function Jorhat SP Gunananda Nath Deka, Nazira MLA Debabrata Saikia, Mariani College principal Dr Haren Saikia, AKA secretary Nilotpal Goswami were present as guests.
