Kamrup(M) dist awarded for family planning

GUWAHATI, Feb 20 � The Kamrup Metro district has been awarded as the best performing district in Assam in recognition to Family Planning (IUCD & PPIUCD) services rendered during 2013-14 and 2014-15.

The award was given to the District Health Society in an award function held at the office of the Mission Director, National Health Mission, Assam on Feb 18.

A total of 8,515 Intrauterine Contraceptive Devices (IUCD) and 4,869 Postpartum Intrauterine Contraceptive Devices (PPIUCD) were provided so far during 2014-15 in the district.

The district has taken effort to improve the service through a lot of activities like motivation to the eligible couples through grass-root level workers and special training programmes.

Dr M Angamuthu, Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metro, congratulated the medical staff for this achievement and asked them to maintain the standard in delivery of all types of services in the health sector.
