RANGIYA, April 23 - A delegation of the Kamrup district unit of the Assam Sahitya Sabha, led by Prabhat Bania, president of Kamrup district unit felicitated Bhabendranath Deka, Padadhikaar, Srimanta Sankardev Sangha and Chancellor, Srimanta Sankardev University here at his residence at Murara-Khairabari area of the locality.
The Sahitya Sabha body felicitated Deka who is also a former Principal of Rangiya College and a noted educationist from Rangiya with a phulam gamosa, a citation, and a pack of books. Deka, expressing his gratitude to the literary apex body urged it to work for the development of culture and language and bring about a sense of oneness for peace and tranquillity in the society.
The body, later, felicitated Uday Kalita, a literary worker and writer of ten books including Kamrupor Itihaasar Jilingoni (Reflections of Kamrupi history). Besides, another retired teacher and literary preacher Haricharan Deka of Dagaon village under Rangiya subdivision was also felicitated. Meanwhile, another team from Kamrup Zila Sahitya Sabha felicitated different educationists, literary workers at Hajo, Pacharia, Damdama and other places of Kamrup district.
