District Administration and District Social Welfare Office, Kamrup Metro along with District Level Centre for Women, Kamrup Metro District has taken initiative for organizing week long Self Defense Training Camps for girls at Girls' Colleges of the district under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme. As a part of this initiative a Self Defense Training camp was organized at Handique Girls' College for one week w.e.f 1st Feb 2021 in collaboration with NSS Unit of Handique Girls' College where around 40 nos. of girls were participated. The objective of this programme is to boost own spirits and make every girl more confident to protect themselves.Mrs Kunjalata Lachon, District Social Welfare Officer delivered a speech about BBBP scheme and appreciated the girls for participating in the camp. Dr Utpal Dutta, Principal of Handique Girls' College also focused on participation of girls in every field to build up confidence level. At the closing programme of the camp, officials of the District Social Welfare office and District Level Centre for Women, Lecturers of the College and members of NSS Unit were also present and felicitated the girls with BBBP cap and certificates of participation.
